Housing Rights and Protections: Economic Empowerment Training

FCADV will host Florida Legal Services to present the rights and protections of survivors as it pertains to housing. 
This two-day regional training will provide information and resources to address challenges involving domestic violence survivors’ housing rights and protections, as well as subsequent challenges of financial abuse. There will also be a learning exchange opportunity to explore solutions advocates may utilize while assisting survivors to obtain secure housing.
Experts from Florida Legal Services will lead informative presentations on topics such as housing protections, immigrant access to federally-assisted housing, bankruptcy and credit history, as they intersect with survivors of domestic violence accessing housing services. 
The intended audience includes direct service advocates, legal professionals, social service professionals, students, and other individuals who provide housing assistance to survivors of domestic violence.

Presentation topics will include, but not be limited to:
•    Florida Landlord Tenant Law, What Every Tenant Should Know
•    Fair Housing Act
•    Public Housing and Housing Protections under VAWA
•    Immigrant Access to Federally-assisted Housing
•    Bankruptcy Basics
•    Consumer Law

The intended audience includes direct service advocates, legal professionals, social service professionals, students, and other individuals who provide housing assistance to survivors of domestic violence.

Day one of this event will be from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Day two will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
