This training on advanced issues in high-risk investigations for intimate partner violence will be conducted by Marcus Bruning, a certified Federal Law Enforcement Training Center training specialist. The training will include information on the dynamics of domestic violence, high-risk indicators to homicide with special emphasis on strangulation, investigative techniques, holding perpetrators responsible for their violence and report writing. Strategies for enhanced coordination between law enforcement and other service providing agencies and trauma informed victim-interviewing will be presented. The intended audience is law enforcement, first responders, criminal court personnel, child welfare providers, victim advocates and other service providers who work with survivors of intimate partner violence, their children and perpetrators.

Supervising Deputy Marcus Bruning, Retired
Marcus Bruning is a nationally recognized as an expert on law enforcement response to intimate partner abuse, sexual assault and stalking. Major Bruning also provides training services as a Contract Instructor for Praxis International, Minnesota Program Development Inc., The Gender Violence Institute, The National Sheriff’s Association and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
